Less than a day total deployed and the male, that drove off a bluebird pair, was in the trap.

Purchased two traps. 5 sparrows the first day, 2 mice that night, 8 sparrows second day. Could not be happier with the results.

Tip: Stale bread works great.

Gold finches are back

Purchased this trap approximately 3 weeks ago. Eliminated 30 sparrows so far and a pair of goldfinches came back to the feeders. They haven’t been around since spring. I have nyjer and safflower which the house sparrows don’t eat much of but they toss a lot on the ground and bully other native birds away. I don’t use the same food to trap. They really go for chips and hearts in the trap cause there’s no shell but I have to be creative by baiting with different feed. THEY ARE SMART! If offering the same thing daily, they lose interest in the trap, even if I keep a bird in the trap. There’s 12 more sparrows left to trap but with their numbers down by 30, their behavior is less aggressive toward the native songbirds. They usually dominate the nyjer but today they left the goldfinches alone and watched them eat instead of displacing them.

The native songbirds keep a watchful eye and are always looking over their shoulders, when house sparrows approach the feeders. Looking forward to watching the Robin’s nest, successfully this spring. The sparrows and starlings invaded 3 nests last spring and the Robin’s have not had any fledglings for 2 years. But, found evidence of the invasions on the ground and both bullies occupying those nests. I tore them down.

I love this trap and I highly recommend it.

This is my 2nd review.

Great trap for House Sparrows

It took a few days to catch them, but I experimented with the placement and recommend putting it on a fence or somewhere where they like to perch. That’s what did it for me. They like to hange out in the bushes by this fence and work their way over to the trap. I bought a second trap now and really getting them out of here. Highly recommended.

Trapped 4 house sparrows the day after it arrived. They are smart birds so keeping one bird as bait attracts more sparrows. I’ve caught 9 in less than a week but if I started using a sparrow as bait from the beginning, the numbers would be in double digits.

The photo isn’t too good for quality but another bird was caught this morning. This product is money well spent!

I live in rural central Canada and up until 15 years ago we had very few sparrows but now in our small town we have thousands.I bought the trap in may. Although with freight and exchange on the dollar I thought it was a bit pricy but soon realized it is worth every penny. From the middle of May till the middle of Aug. I have caught 275 sparrows. At the moment I’m averaging 8 per day. FANTASTIC product Thanks
